SAN FRANCISCO -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's job performance rating continued to improve last month, but a larger number of voters continue to disapprove of the job he's doing, according to a Field Poll released Monday. The statewide poll showed 46 percent of voters surveyed last month disapproved of the job he's doing, an improvement of 10 percentage points from his low point in October. Thirteen percent had no opinion. Forty-one percent of voters approved of Schwarzenegger's job performance, 5 percentage points higher than in August, which was his lowest approval mark. Voters also continued to hold a negative view of the Legislature, with 51 percent of voters disapproving of the job they're doing while just 26 percent approved. The poll found that voters support four infrastructure bond proposals on the November general election ballot. Two bonds in particular -- a $19.9 billion proposal focused on highway safety, air quality and port security, and a $4.1 billion proposal focused on disaster preparedness and flood protection -- enjoy greater than two-to-one support among voters. Researchers interviewed 986 registered voters by telephone in English and Spanish from May 23-31. Only 702 likely voters were asked questions about the infrastructure bonds. The overall poll had a sampling error rate of 3 percentage points, while the bonds poll had a sampling error rate of 4 percentage points.
