Description: Long before Slanted Door soared to fame with its "original" concept of (not so) inexpensive Cal-Vietnamese in modern-posh surroundings, Saigon Saigon was serving luscious black pepper catfish, grilled calamari in peanut sauce, andupdated Vietnamese standards in a cool minimalist space (lots of elegant flower presentations, white table cloths and an eccentric old radio collection gracing the walls). We still wonder how they got the thunder stolen from them only a few blocks up, but the Saigon Saigon folks remain unperturbed, recently revamping the space with burnt orange paint and outsize posters and still serving great food to a loyal clientele. We miss the radios though. * Recent visits have been disappointing.
