Description: Watergate opened on Valencia in early 1999 to huge critical acclaim. The blend of Asian cuisine and European technique isn't as unique as it was a decade ago, but maybe that's why it's mature and familiar here. While the food is still inventive and exciting, but it doesn't jar and clash like so many other misguided fusion attempts. Add to this a space that is eclectic yet graceful, and you've got an operation to be proud of.

The owners are probably tired of hearing this, but Watergate on Valencia is in no way related to political scandal. "Watergate" is actually a rather loose translation of owners Rebecca Kwan and Chef Walter Liang's names from the Chinese.
