PHOENIX -- Dan Johnson had a two-run homer and John Baker added three RBIs to help the Oakland Athletics beat the Milwaukee Brewers 10-9 Thursday. Oakland right-hander Dan Haren gave up two runs in 3 2-3 innings. Haren, who has been bothered by a cut on his thumb, did not throw his curveball during the game but used a fastball, changeup and split-finger pitch to hold the Brewers to six hits. He walked two and struck out three. Johnson's homer, his second of the spring, came on a first-pitch knuckleball from right-hander Jared Fernandez in the top of the first. Fernandez, who is competing for a spot on the Brewers' pitching staff, allowed four hits and three runs in four innings. Brewers catcher Chad Moeller, who was hitless in his first six games (0-for-9), went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and scored three runs for the Brewers. Carlos Lee had three hits for Milwaukee. Trailing 5-2 in the eighth, the Brewers tied the game with five consecutive two-out singles against Jason Karnuth. Oakland answered with five runs against Brewers closer Derrick Turnbow in the ninth. Turnbow, who has struggled with his control during the first half of camp, recorded just one out, allowing six hits and a walk as his spring ERA jumped to 16.62. The Brewers rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth, but Ozzie Chavez flied out against Matt Roney to strand the tying run at third base.
