SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) -- The Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers announced their respective second and third round draft picks during Day 2 of the NFL Draft.

Illinois DE Jihad Ward was pick #44. He was moved to tears when he got the call. Ward is an athletic pass rusher. A little raw,, but fills a position of need for the Raiders who have now gone defense with both of their first two picks.

The San Francisco 49ers didn't have a second round pick after trading up on Thursday for Joshua Garnett, but they did make Mississippi State CB Will Redmond their 68th pick in round three.

San Francisco had already snagged Oregon defensive lineman DeForest Buckner and Stanford guard Joshua Garnett in round 1.

Buckner played for 49ers head coach Chip Kelley while in college. And Garnett's father, Scott, was a defensive end who played for the 49ers over 30 years ago.
