Potential Super Bowl-sized traffic problems in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) -- No matter how you commute around San Francisco, by walking, driving or taking public transit, expect delays and detours during the upcoming Super Bowl 50 festivities.
Organizers say from January 23 through February 12, there will be road closure in the San Francisco Embarcadero area, for a fan fun zone, known as "Super Bowl City."
The closures cover nearly three blocks of the roadway on the Embarcadero, Justin Herman Plaza, and part of Market Street.
Super Bowl City is essentially a giant theme park, with a food court and concert venue.
While the cost is free, the area is going to be closed off from the sidewalk and fenced in, with just a few limited entry points.
Pedestrians and bicyclists will not be able to easily pass through.
Leading to the Super Bowl on February 7, Moscone Center complex will hold another fan zone, known as the NFL Experience.
There is an admission fee for tickets.
