Tara Moriarty has been with KTVU as a reporter and fill-in traffic reporter since 2008. She wakes up well before the sun rises, doing live reports on everything from fires to homicides to roller coaster rides on KTVU Mornings 4:30am-9am and on KTVU News at Noon.
Prior to KTVU, Tara worked for Good Evening Sacramento at KMAX, KRON4, and as an anchor/reporter for KFTY in Santa Rosa. She began her career in Chico at KHSL as an anchor/reporter.
Tara has been honored by RTNDA and The Society of Professional Journalists numerous times for her investigative journalism.
Tara graduated magna cum laude with a Master’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia’s School of Journalism and received a B.A. in English from UCLA.
Tara has moved more than 20 times throughout her childhood and has lived everywhere from Puerto Rico to New York, Virginia to Chicago. Moriarty speaks Spanish and is also an avid scuba diver and singer.
She married her college sweetheart, with whom she shares three young children. They are proud to be Giants and 49er fans and call the Bay Area home.
