Globetrotters Hoop It Up In Bay Area

With a history that stretches all the way back to 1926, the Harlem Globetrotters have been dazzling and delighting audiences with their ball-handling skills and slapstick antics for almost 80 years. The early Globetrotters toured with owner and manager Abe Saperstein in his car, playing competative basketball against professional teams all over the country.

Gradually, as more comedy and show business was introduced to their game, the Globetrotters became an entertaining exhibition team that would eventually have its own Saturday morning cartoon and variety specials on television during the '70s. One of the most recognized teams in the world, the Harlem Globetrotters transformed into goodwill basketball ambassadors for the U.S. over the course of their storied success.

The 2009 version of the Harlem Globetrotters hits the road for its latest tour featuring new music, a new light show and increased on-court fan participation as the veteran players return to the hardwood at the top of their game. For more information, go to the official Harlem Globetrotters Web site.
