Sal Castaneda

Sal Castaneda joined the KTVU news team in 1999. Sal fronts the KTVU Channel 2 News Live Drive Time Traffic center weekdays and is a general assignment news reporter for the 5 and 6 PM news.

Sal is a San Francisco native and graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Political Science.

Sal has received awards for his work from the Radio Television News Directors Association and has received an award for breaking news coverage from the Associated Press for a story concerning the construction of the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge.

Before coming to KTVU Sal worked in radio as a news and traffic reporter. He has also held broadcasting jobs a disc jockey, sports reporter, and news writer.

Sal's interests include photography, politics, and sports.
