Over 100 artists and craftspeople will open their studios and galleries to the public for the Berkeley Artisans Holiday Open Studios event. Meet local artists specializing in pottery, textiles, jewelry, furniture, paintings, and more. Support local arts and crafts by purchasing unique and creative gifts. Oakland Children's Parade
Come join the fun at this year’s Oakland Holiday Parade. The parade was started to celebrate the rebirth of the city of Oakland and its renewed viability. The Chamber of Commerce and Children’s Hospital of Oakland join forces to make this event possible each year. National AIDS Memorial Grove
As the 16th annual World AIDS Day approaches, we realize just how many lives have been lost or affected by AIDS. Hospice of the East Bay Tree of Lights
Experience the lighting of Hospice of East Bay’s Tree of Lights in remembrance of children. Each light on the tree represents the life of a child cared for by hospice services. Help Light Hospice Children's Tree
Every year, this unique tree is lit up to remember and honor children that have touched our lives, and to pay homage to the community services of the Hospice of the East Bay. The giant oak tree is located behind Va de Vi restaurant in Walnut Creek, and the ceremony will begin at 5:00 pm on December 13th. To contribute, you can purchase a light for the tree for $20, and all donations will be given directly to the Hospice of the East bay. For more information, contact:

Carlos Carvajal’s Nutcracker
Oakland Ballet Company and Peninsula Ballet Theatre come together to perform world-renowned choreographer Carlos Carvajal’s Nutcracker at both the Paramount Theatre and the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. Over 46 years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. shared his visionary dream with the world. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library is hosting a celebration to mark the 80th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The tribute will be held on Thursday, January 15 from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM with a cake ceremony. Subsequent events are planned for January 17, February 14 and February 19. Other activities will include performances of gospel music, crafts, story time, poetry and dance, a Freedom March and re-enactments from the Civil Rights Era.
