Julia Sandstrom joined the staff at KTVU Channel 2 as the weekend weather anchor and weekday fill-in in September 2003.
Sandstrom came to the Bay Area from KING-TV and Northwest Cable News in Seattle, Washington, where she had been a staff member since 1999. She was at KREM-TV in Spokane, WA from 1996 to 1999. The other stops along her 14-year weather career in the Pacific Northwest include KAPP-TV in Yakima, KVEW-TV in the Tri-Cities, and KLEW-TV in Lewiston, Idaho."I am thrilled to be working in the San Francisco Bay Area and at one of the top news operations in the country," Sandstrom said. "KTVU is a powerhouse and I'm excited to have the opportunity to join Bill Martin and Steve Paulson in the station's state of the art Weather Center."Sandstrom has a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from Washington State University. She graduated from the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University, and is a sealed member of the American Meteorology Society and the National Weather Association.Sandstrom and her husband enjoy camping, fishing, white water rafting and scuba diving. They look forward to passing on their love of the outdoors to their two young children.
