Mezzanine
Though its not on Sixth Street, this popular nightspot around the corner on Jessie is drawing big crowds. A former printing plant converted by Club Universe promoter Audrey Joseph after the closing of Club Townsend, Mezzanine quickly became the underground dance spot of choice when it opened in late 2002.
The weekly gay dance party that shares the club's name might have some people feeling like they've happened onto the set of the popular Showtime program 'Queer as Folk,' but the space is also used for various other parties and functions. Posh while retaining an industrial-chic vibe, Mezzanine is a great addition to the San Francisco scene. For more information and a schedule of events, check out the club's Web site.
