OAKLAND: City leader decries settlement requiring compliance director
An agreement that calls for a compliance director to oversee the
Oakland Police Department was needed because the department moved far too
slowly in complying with reforms, an
attorney for the plaintiffs in the case said Thursday.
Watchdogs are questioning an exclusive agreement between the City of Oakland and a non-profit group, tapped to lead a multi-million dollar project to redevelop the area around the Coliseum BART station.
