Lorraine Hansberry Theatre

The Lorraine Hansberry Theatre will be celebrating the opening of its 31st season at a new downtown San Francisco location.  The theatre was fighting for its survival last year, but has rebounded with new energy, a new location with a new season. Artistic Director Steven Anthony Jones shares with us his vision for theatre’s new season and its future plans.

Youth In Action

Fremont high school students will be participating in the Partnerships in Action Walk in Fremont to raise funds to fight global poverty.  Founded by high school senior Saif Jivani, Youth In Action will provide entertainment and information on how proceeds from this walk support the work of the international Aga Khan Foundation USA in its quest to eliminate global poverty and promote the advancement of women.

Out for Blood 5K Run/Walk

On October 22, the American Red Cross Northern California Blood Services will hold its first blood drive community fundraiser. The 5K Family Fun Run and Walk will be held around Lake Merritt in Oakland. The event will be used to support the Red Cross Foundation in Northern California and the proceeds will go toward the purchase of a new mobile blood drive truck. American Red Cross Blood Services CEO, Jeff Meyer, discusses the event and more.
