Alternative Family Services / BBQ

If you’d like to enjoy some baseball and barbeque while also helping out foster youth then you’ll want to attend the upcoming Bay Area BBQ Championship.  It’s one of the largest Pro/Am BBQ cook offs in the state and will raise funds to support the work of Oakland’s Alternative Family Services, an organization that helps over 1500 foster children each year. Find out about all the fun activities and sports you can enjoy at the BBQ all while providing support for those in need of foster services.

Red Cross Blood Donations

Whole blood is always in high demand, as only 38% of people are eligible to donate, and the Red Cross is ready to attack this problem with your help.   Since a significant portion of blood is donated during the school year by high school and college students, this summer, available blood is critically low.  Learn about the crisis and what you can do to combat this shortage. Donate blood between June 24th and June 30th and receive a free coupon for pint of Baskin Robbins ice cream.
