Count Me In

Being a strong and independent woman is a theme that is often found in today’s society. This is exactly the message that companies such as “Count Me In For Women’s Economic Independence” try to promote with today’s women.  President and CEO of Count me In, Nell Merlino speaks about the steps needed for women entrepreneurs to further expand and grow their small businesses into million-dollar companies, and inspires them to “dream big and achieve even more.” She is also the founder of “Take Your Daughter to Work Day,” an idea that was started to give girls more opportunities to dream big about their future.

People’s Grocery and Grub Boxes
People’s Grocery, an Oakland non-profit organization,  in a partnership with Dig Deep Farms, has created an alternative for neighborhoods that only have access to fast foods:  It’s “Grub Box”, program which provides fresh and affordable produce to members of the West Oakland community. We’ll learn about how this Grub Box program is helping families learn about healthy eating from Nikki Henderson, the Executive Director of the People’s Grocery.
