FLX Account Executive

KTVU FOX 2 is seeking a Digital Account Executive who is experienced in business development and has established contacts to make an immediate impact in its rapidly growing digital business. The ideal candidate will be based out of Sacramento, CA. Be part of a winning team with a diverse culture that believes in supporting, mentoring, and training our staff. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Candidate will have responsibility of developing and maintain a robust sales pipeline of qualified clients for the Fox Local Extension (FLX) OTT platform.
  • Source new sales opportunities through a combination of identifying and researching potential accounts and soliciting new business via outbound communication as well as inbound lead follow-up.
  • Maintain a consistent presence out in the field building relationships and presenting, live or via Zoom, the benefits of the FLX platform.
  • Quickly become a product expert in order to participate in brainstorming, staff meetings, client meetings, researching and assisting in proposal development and campaign reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Research Director to develop and maintain custom presentations that further highlight the benefits and utility of FLX. • Maintain expert knowledge of competitive OTT platforms and a clear understanding of the characteristics that give FLX a competitive advantage.
  • Stewart client campaigns and work on a variety of weekly and monthly reports to develop impactful post campaign recaps and provide recommendations to further optimize client campaigns.
  • Work closely with the Digital Sales Manager on every RFP and presentation for consistency in creating impactful campaigns that help our clients achieve the marketing objectives.
  • Maintain a positive and effective working relationship with Ad-Ops, creative services, and finance departments. • Other duties assigned as deemed necessary and appropriate.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with daily high volume sales activity in a B2B sales environment.
  • A sales hunter mentality with the ability to consult with clients and understand how your products can serve as the solution to help them meet their objectives.
  • You have managed a book of business and understand how to organize/plan your day to meet deadlines in a fast pace environment.
  • You thrive in a metrics and results driven sales culture and have a track record to prove it.
  • You have experience in building rapport, providing technical information and explanations, and preparing presentations.
  • Has established OTT/Digital relationships and is able to make an immediate impact on a sales team.
  • Digital Video Advertising and/or Digital Agency/Digital Publisher experience preferred.
  • Strong written/oral communications, presentation and account management skills are also required.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Varied hours, weekends, holidays and local travel is required. Must have or be willing to obtain reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • College degree (or equivalent work experience) and 1 to 3 years digital sales experience is required.

Account Executive

We are searching for an experienced Multimedia Account Executive. As part of our total compensation benefits package we offer comprehensive medical plans, three weeks’ vacation, 401k, and tuition reimbursement just to name a few.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and grow existing client list by utilizing our market leading FOX stations, digital properties, and industry leading OTT platform to create impactful marketing campaigns for advertising partners.
  • Develop a consistent stream of new business and manage the entire sales cycle in order to achieve monthly revenue targets.
  • Gain key insight on client goals and objectives in order to make presentation and recommendations to successfully achieve them with all of our offerings.
  • Responsible for selling sponsorships that may include promotions initiated by sales persons.
  • Ability to create impactful multi-platform advertising campaigns that include KTVU/KTVU+, KTVU’s digital offerings, and OTT.
  • Utilize all available sales tools in order to educate clients on the broadcast landscape and develop value propositions to earn client’s business.
  • Manage and maintain campaigns to ensure all deliverables are met and provide superb after-sales support in order to develop long lasting partnerships.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Media sales or other outside sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to create, present, and sell through opportunities to Clients and Advertising agencies.
  • Experience with Wide Orbit, Wide Orbit Media Sales, and Kantar applications a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs including Excel, Power Point, Word, and Outlook.
  • Effective time management, communication, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Must possess a driver's license with a good driving record

Maintenance Engineer (per diem)

KTVU is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to conduct repairs and preventative maintenance of broadcast equipment--both IT/server-based and video-based. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works under the direction of Engineering management to research, obtain, and implement equipment, test devices, and perform maintenance/operating procedures.
  • Repairs and maintains broadcast systems, including systems that are computer-based.
  • Shares information and knowledge of this specialty area with other staff members, by adhering to the documentation requirements at KTVU, which include creating rack elevation views, block diagrams and detailed schematic and by training co-workers on new systems that you design and/or install.
  • Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and at least four years related experience in TV station maintenance, including digital; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Particular emphasis will be placed on experience with software applications, operating systems and general-purpose troubleshooting in a network environment.
  • Experience with layers 1, 2 and 3 network switches is considered a plus. SBE certifications desirable.
  • Membership in IBEW union required. A+ and other computer based certifications are highly desirable.
  • Must have the ability to work with end-users of software-based systems in order to solve issues in large network-based systems is an important skill that is required.
  • The ability to understand network-based communications links between corporate locations in other cities and the systems at KTVU will be required.

VP News Director

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Vice President/News Director supervises the station’s news operations, content, and production. This position also supervises the performance, discipline, and development of News personnel. Responsibilities include by are not limited to the following duties:

  • Oversee two station's news content and news production across all platforms including on air, mobile, and web.
  • Develop vision and strategies for all newscasts to achieve viewership growth.
  • Set and direct the editorial and ethical standards in the newsroom.
  • Ensure that news content is balanced, accurate, and meets the station's standards for quality and journalistic integrity.
  • Manage overall news department operations including, budgets, expenses, capital and strategic planning, viewership analysis, talent search, websites, mobile apps, social media, new technology etc.
  • Report to work to assist with editorial efforts outside the normal work schedule at times of severe weather conditions or breaking news.
  • Leads the News Department forward concerning technical, editorial, delivery methods, and platforms.
  • Liaise with City Hall, police, fire, sheriff, state capital, and FOX entities regarding news-related matters.
  • Work closely with the General Manager in the development of news management strategies and goals.
  • Develop professional working relationships with other station department heads and staff.
  • Stay up-to-date with current events, trends, and technologies in the news industry.
  • Recruit, manage, develop, discipline, and motivate staff.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Five (5) years of experience as a News Director preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Radio/TV, or related discipline preferred
  • Strong hands-on leadership skills with an ability to direct and motivate newsroom staff.
  • Discerning judgment, motivational teambuilding skills, and a passion for good journalism.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of ratings growth.
  • In-depth understanding of research, analytics, viewership, and promotion are essential.
  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment with superior attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and time constraints.

Must be able to handle high stress environment while staying calm on air and behind the scenes. Must be able to discuss current events unscripted during the course of a live broadcast. Segment Producer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable TV Segment Producer to join our dynamic team at KTVU! As a Segment Producer, you will play a critical role in creating engaging and informative content for our viewers on all KTVU’s platforms. Your responsibilities will include booking live in-studio guests for multiple newscasts, producing newscasts when needed, staying updated on current events and Bay Area news, managing multiple projects in a fast-paced newsroom, planning and executing live shows in the field, building a network of sources, and leveraging your knowledge of TV news production, digital publication, and video production to producing exciting, informative, and compelling television.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma is required; 4-year College degree is preferred. Candidate should have previous experience as a TV line producer or segment producer at a major market TV station, with a deep understanding of the demands and expectations of the role. Experience with iNews or other newscast software is required. A strong technical understanding of newsroom operations is also required. Excellent communication.

News Producer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Seeking a producer with strong planning skills, line producing experience, and a drive for content creation. This producer will manage a combination of daily news, live interviews, Bay Area culture, and guest segments. The producer will work closely with anchors, writers, and executive producer to create unique content for multiple platforms. The producer must be an avid user of social media, understand current trends, be willing to take risks and have excellent control room skills. The producer must be able to line produce, find original content, create graphics, time a live show, troubleshoot issues under tight deadlines, and collaborate with the newsroom. Must be an excellent writer. Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.

High school diploma is required; 4-year College degree is preferred. Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience with fast-paced television productions. Staff Accountant

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the daily operations and financial reporting of the Finance department. As such, the Staff Accountant must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational, timeline-management and communication skills with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.

  • Reconcile daily program logs
  • Assist with month end close and billing. Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Maintain monthly Fixed Asset reporting
  • Assist with preparation of annual budget, insurance and tax reporting packages.
  • Prepare internal and external revenue reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the VP of Finance and Finance Manager.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Minimum of 3 years of general accounting experience. Familiarity with Broadcasting/Cable operations desired.

Skillset

  • Solid working knowledge of Excel spreadsheet applications
  • Must be organized and detailed oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Workday and Wide Orbit experience strongly preferred.

KTVU Channel 2 and KTVU Plus offer an unpaid college internship program three times a year: Spring, Summer and Fall.

Students are provided a chance to experience the working environment of television broadcasting including news/sports, digital/social media news production and promotion, and community affairs.Internship Requirements:College students must meet these requirements to qualify for a KTVU/KTVU Plus internship:

  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited four year college.
  • Be a junior, senior or graduate student in a graduate program.
  • Provide a letter on school letterhead, prior to the start of the internship, from an advisor or professor stating that the student is enrolled in school during the current semester/quarter and will be receiving course credit.
  • Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
