Bay Area organizations, universities ramp up efforts to bring Afghan refugees to U.S.

A network of more than 15 colleges and universities have connected with San Jose State University's Human Rights Institute to sponsor Afghan scholars, academics, activists, and journalists and bring them to teach at universities in the United States. Jewish Family and Community Services East Bay is also ramping up efforts to support Afghan refugee resettlement.

Thursday marked the beginning of the all semester at San Jose State University. and for the first time in 17 months of remote instruction, many students, faculty, and staff returned to campus, though the look and feel of the University have evolved.

The former deputy athletic director at San Jose State University is accusing several school officials, including the athletic director and president, of covering up sexual assault claims and retaliating against those who reported them.
