South Bay tax measure passes; Tax Assessor race heads to runoff

South Bay democrats on Tuesday celebrated the passage of Measure A, a sales tax for the next five years that will offset federal government funding cuts that have left the Bay Area's largest county with a billion-dollar budget shortfall. The county's Tax Assessor race appears headed to a runoff, with none of the four candidates securing more than 50% of the vote.
