Mike Mibach

Anchor

Mike was hired as a general assignment reporter in March of 2005. He covered the legalization of same-sex marriage in California, has been on scene reporting from many of the largest wildfires across the state and anchored KTVU’s breaking coverage of the 2014 Napa earthquake. Mike has reported on every one of the three recent championship runs for the San Francisco Giants, and the Golden State Warriors.

Mike’s first break in broadcast news was in August of 2000 when he was hired by WIBW in Topeka, Kansas. Mike moved on to KVOA in Tucson in November of 2001. He made it back home to the San Francisco Bay Area in March 2005.

Mike grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area living both in Novato just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, and in San Francisco where he attended St. Ignatius College Prep. He attended College of Marin for three years, before transferring to the University of Colorado at Boulder. He graduated with BS in Journalism with a focus on broadcast news.

Mike loves living in the Bay Area. He says he could be hiking Mt. Tamalpais in the morning, and be down at the beach with his wife and two children in the afternoon.

Mike has been a youth sports coach for a decade, coaching his two children and their teammates in soccer, basketball and baseball. He loves to grill in the backyard and entertain his friends. He also loves to run, hike and golf. And if there’s time, the vineyards in Napa and Sonoma are not too far away.
