News ENG Photographer
Responsibilities: KTVU is seeking a News ENG Photographer to clearly and creatively record news events and perform ENG operations so the story may be effectively conveyed to the viewers in a complete, factual, timely and professional manner Must have a professional level of skill in lighting and audio operations in the field. Operate, service, and maintain in proper working order electronic equipment provided for the execution of assignments. Must be familiar with ENG technology and microwave transmission in order to carry out live shots. Must conduct wide range of ENG operations with a clear understanding of safety procedures.
Must be able to edit in the field under pressure and be familiar with non-linear editing. Seek out and shoot live action, breaking news stories, monitor 2-way radio from newsroom and monitor police scanners for information on news stories. Drive reporters to the scene of live, breaking news stories and to locations to shoot stories for later use on News programs. Carry out the instructions of the Assignment Desk and Newsroom Managers. May occasionally be required to photograph scenes from an airplane or helicopter or fly to an assignment in such an aircraft. Assignments may include out of market and overnight travel. Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three years of professional News Camera experience is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must have an excellent driving record. A professional level of skill in operation of ENG live trucks, ENG field cameras and field editing systems, including non-linear and associated photographic equipment is required.
Responsibilities: Assist the Vice President/General Manager of KTVU and KTVU Plus by acting as liaison with other station executives, corporate, clients, community organizations, etc., using discretion, judgment and initiative. Schedules appointments for General Manager and maintains calendar. Maintains confidential files and other records precisely and in a timely manner. Schedules meetings and station events. Use judgment on all details of these arrangements, including cost. This position includes station-wide duties including: making travel arrangements for all departments, ordering office supplies, checking in package deliveries, incoming and outgoing mail, toner cartridge recycle program and conference room scheduling. Also assists station Department Heads with various duties, as assigned. Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.
Requirements: A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required plus three years administrative or executive assistant experience. Business or college degree preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office product experience required. Must have the ability to carry out duties described above independently and with absolute confidentiality. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from corporate executives, managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Responsibilities: Provide original news content for KTVU FOX 2, ktvu.com, and associated media partners by successfully accomplishing the following responsibilities: gather news information; write news stories, conduct taped and live interviews and be able to present material in a compelling and engaging manner. Must contribute to social media efforts; initiate research and enterprise stories; update and follow up on stories and communicate with managers and assignment editors about past, current and future stories. Additional duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.
Requirements: Must have a broad working knowledge of police procedures, the court system, and municipal, state and federal government operations and must have strong knowledge of legal and ethical parameters of reporting for mass media. Ability to work under stressful conditions and deadlines is a must. Maintaining a strong roster of contacts and sources is required. Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news production required, including digital and web-based newsgathering tools. Must be able to use newsroom computer systems, and possess expertise in researching material essential to putting together comprehensive news stories. Must be a strong writer and communicator and have demonstrated interview skills. A professional appearance is essential. Must annunciate clearly, and maintain a clear delivery during both live and taped reports. Bi-lingual Spanish/English a plus. 4–year college degree required with emphasis in Communications and Journalisms preferred. 3 -5 years’ experience in a medium to major market.
Responsibilities: Candidate will provide administrative support to the KTVU Fox 2 and KICU TV36 Sales management staff and Account Executives. Duties include writing and checking orders, proposals, maintaining organizational systems, general office requirements, and assisting with special projects. Investigate order discrepancies and credit memos. Back up other sales assistants as necessary. Participate in and help with sales coordinated events. Answer phones in a professional and courteous manner. Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.
Requirements: Strong written/oral communication skills are required. Strong PC skills and proficiency w/ Microsoft Office is also required. This position requires excellent attention to detail, and accuracy. Must be able to interact professionally with a variety of people and work efficiently and courteously w/ station personnel. Must be personable and demonstrate initiative. Two years of experience in an administrative position is required. Media experience preferred. High school diploma or GED is required. College degree preferred.
News Editor (part time)
RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs functions of a News Video Editor, using non-linear systems by editing raw video to predetermined lengths to tell compelling, understandable and accurate visual stories, following the instructions of producers, writers, reporters, supervisors, etc. Exercise excellent professional judgment based on current broadcast industry video and audio quality and editing standards. Follow station policies regarding journalistic standards of good taste, quality and appropriateness, and alert managers when questions arise regarding any of these concerns. Coordinate editing information with writer, reporter, producer and/or supervisors. Locate, file and computerize archival video. Record video and audio feeds from sources including microwave, satellite, fiber, phone, and other web-based/internet feeds. Make dubs and prepare video for use in-house, in the field and for other related news department purposes. Additional duties assigned as deemed appropriate or necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred with two to four years related experience. Must have experience editing television newscasts. Familiarity with Bit Central, iNews and Edius a plus. Must be able to meet aggressive deadlines while completing high quality edits.
Local Sales Manager
Responsibilities: Candidate will have responsibility for sale of ad time and digital assets to local/regional clients-agencies. Assist with the training, development and motivation of a local sales team. Establish and monitor local budgets. Develop/implement new business plan. Develop rating estimates and assist with research pieces. Deal effectively with a varied list of clients. Communicate effectively with and establish strong relationships with local agencies & clients. Demonstrate leadership to the department and fellow managers; all designed to achieve and exceed station goals and objectives on all media platforms; television, internet, mobile and digital channels. Maintain LPM market rating and programming knowledge. Other duties assigned as deemed necessary and appropriate.
Requirements: Candidate must have experience in staff supervision, adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures. Candidate must have knowledge of marketing, retail and competitive media, ratings, pricing, inventory control and budgeting. Candidate must demonstrate ability to solve problems creatively. Candidate must be detail oriented, resourceful, a team player, reliable and a self-starter. Must have excellent computer skills and knowledge of industry software is required. Strong written/oral communications, presentation and management skills are also required. Varied hours, weekends, holidays and local and national travel is required. Must have or be willing to obtain reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. College degree (or equivalent work experience) and 3 to 5 years major market broadcast sales experience is required.
Maintain and improve existing client list and generate new business on our FOX stations and websites in order to generate significant revenue and achieve sales budget. Make presentations to advertising agencies and clients. Responsible for selling sponsorships that may include promotions initiated by sales persons. Compile lists of prospective customers to use as sales leads. This position involves local travel to call on regular and prospective clients.

A Bachelors’ Degree plus four years of major market experience in transactional and online advertising sales is required. Candidate must be proficient in negotiating utilizing Nielsen LPM ratings and qualitative information. Strong communication and presentation skills – both written and oral are required. Major network affiliation is preferred. Candidate must have proven success with generating and maintaining new business and experience with major sports programming sales. Prior experience with Wide Orbit and One Domain is preferred. Candidate must be detail oriented, resourceful, a team player, reliable and a self-starter. Candidate must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must have or be willing to obtain and drive reliable transportation and have a valid CA driver’s license with a good driving record.
