Man accused of placing hidden camera in restroom of Capitola coffee shop

Sage Savage

A man was arrested, accused of placing a hidden camera in the restroom of a popular Capitola coffee shop. There are 12 victims in the case, which include men, women and children.

Santa Cruz County Sgt. Brian Cleveland tells KTVU the hidden camera, which was plugged into the wall and looked like a USB drive, was found at Verve Coffee Roasters on June 21.

A Verve Coffee Roasters employee found the camera about three hours after it was placed in the bathroom.

Based on surveillance footage, Sage Savage, 35, of Santa Cruz County was arrested and is facing felony charges.

Cleveland says other recording devices were found at Savage's home, which is within a short walk to Verve Coffee Roasters. They believe Savage may have recorded himself having sex with women, without informing them of the camera.

All of the victims who were recorded in Verve Coffee Roaster's restroom have not been identified. Anyone who was in the bathroom on June 21 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., or has information on this case, is asked to contact Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department.
