OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - A police pursuit that began in Livermore spanned across multiple cites and eventually ended in Oakland Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Skyfox was overhead when the male driver of a black Honda Accord parked and left the vehicle on an Oakland residential street just before 3:00 p.m. The driver did not run. He walked away in calm fashion, seemingly trying to blend in. But officers spotted, approached and placed him into custody not long after he left the vehicle.
During the pursuit. the driver was traveling at high speeds on Interstate 580. He exited in Oakland at one point, where he drove erratically on surface streets, running stop signs and even going down the wrong side of the road. The police seemed to have pulled back, but confirmed they had not called off the pursuit.
And then the driver got back on the freeway. He later exited again and shortly after parked the vehicle on Bartlett Street in East Oakland.
What prompted the pursuit and the name of the driver was not immediately available.
Officials said Castro Valley CHP took over the pursuit from Dublin CHP.
