Crash on I-80 leads to car fire and concerns about potentially dangerous chemicals

EMERYVILLE, Calif. (KTVU) -- A crash in Emeryville early Tuesday morning, led to a car fire and concerns about potentially dangerous chemicals inside the car.

The single car crash happened just before 5 a.m., on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 at Powell Street.

Several lanes were blocked, as firefighters extinguished the flames.

The CHP says adding to the concern, was that the driver told them the vehicle contained pool cleaning chemicals in the trunk.

The CHP reports that an ambulance was sent to the scene, but the driver did not need assistance.
