Dolphin superpod races up and down the coast of Pacific Grove

A superpod of dolphins was busy racing up and down the coast along Cannery Row on Monday.

According to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the dolphins were working together to corral schools of bait fish.

According to a spokesperson for the Monterey Bay Aquarium , "The event isn’t uncommon per se - it’s a yearly occurrence, we have seen these superpods from the back deck at the Monterey Bay Aquarium this time of year before. However, it is fairly rare to see them this close to shore and so readily observable by people, these gatherings are often found way offshore."

The spokesperson says it's a very special sighting since magical moments like that are often hidden away from human observation, "but to the dolphins, it was probably just another Monday."
