Alameda Fire Dept. and Alameda Police are investigating an early morning fire that destroyed a play structure at Woodstock Park.

Crews were called to a report of fire at 3:39 a.m., Saturday on the 300 block of Cypress Ave.

First arriving crews found the play structure fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Damage was confined to the play structure and surrounding rubberized turf. There was no damage to nearby buildings, nor any reported injuries.

Earlier in the morning, at 1:51 a.m., fire crews responded to a garbage can fire at the same location in Woodstock Park.

An on-call fire investigator responded the scene to determine the cause and origin of both fires.

Both fires are believed to have been intentionally set and are under investigation.

There's no word on a suspect, or suspects, who may have been responsible.
