Evacuation order for Calistoga residents lifted

CALISTOGA, Calif. (Rob Malcom/KTVU) - The evacuation order for the City of Calistoga is lifted as of 2 p.m. today, the Napa County Sheriff's Office announced.

Only residents living within the city limits are affected by the lifting of the evacuation order, the sheriff's office said.

Residents are urged to be cautious as they return because fires are still burning on Mt. St. Helena. However, the fires are not an immediate threat to the city, according to the sheriff's office.

To get back home, residents can use Silverado Trail or California State Route 29. All other routes, such as Highway 128 east of Bennett Lane, Route 29 from Lake County at Tubbs Lane and Petrified Forest Road all remain closed, the sheriff's office said.

Private properties may be cluttered with debris such as tree limbs and residents are asked to be careful.

Gas stations in town may be low on gas, the sheriff's office said, so residents might want to fill up on the way back.
