Firefighters successfully rescue man, dog after they went down cliff

Firefighters successfully rescued a man and his dog this afternoon after they went down a cliff in San Francisco.

At 1:38 p.m., fire officials received a report of a person and a dog trapped below a cliff at Fort Funston, located near Fort Funston Road and Skyline Boulevard, San Francisco Fire Department Jonathan Baxter said.

The dog had gone over a cliff there and the dog's owner then apparently became stuck below the cliff when he tried to go after the dog.

Firefighters were able to retrieve the man and the dog from below using a rope, according to Baxter.

The man suffered minor injuries as a result but he was treated at the scene.

The dog was uninjured, Baxter said.
