Police locate dangerous kidnapping suspect

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Police have located a convicted sex offender and kidnapping suspect they consider extremely dangerous.

David Lee Russell, a 56-year-old transient man, is now in custody.

Russell who frequents San Jose, is suspected of trying to kidnap two young people within the last seven days, police said. 

Allegedly, Russell assaulted and attempted to kidnap a young female victim near the intersection of Meridian and Hamilton avenues at about 5 p.m. Aug. 29.

On Sept. 1 at about 5 p.m., allegedly he assaulted another young female victim near the intersection of Hillsdale and Narvaez avenues.

Russell has a history of violence against women, according to police.

At this point, additional details on Russell's arrest have not been released.
