A San Francisco police officer was stabbed in the leg at SFO International Airport this afternoon.

SFO spokesperson Doug Yakel confirmed to KTVU that the incident happened at 2:30 p.m.

SFPD responded to a call of a suspicious looking person at a lower roadway of Terminal 1.

The person made his way into the Delta Airlines baggage area where he was confronted by an officer. The suspect then stabbed the officer in the leg after a struggle, according to the SFO spokesman.

The officer has been transported to a local hospital and the suspect was taken into custody.

The scene is now clear, according to officials. There is no disruption to the baggage claim area.
