Question of the Day: Do you think cities should be able to charge drivers to enter downtown?

State Senator Scott wiener is co-sponsoring a bill that could clear the way for congestion pricing in downtown San Francisco.

The bill would allow local jurisdictions to charge drivers a toll to enter congested areas of a city during certain times of the day, or certain days of the week, as a way to reduce traffic.
If the bill passes, two congestion pricing pilot programs would be set up in Southern California and two in Northern California.

According to the San Francisco Examiner, Supervisor Aaron Peskin supports starting one of those pilot programs in San Francisco. Similar proposals have failed to get citywide support in the past.
