Severed female torso found on Fremont levee

(KTVU) - Here's the Rap Sheet for Feb. 23, 2016:

WOMAN'S SEVERED BODY FOUND: Fremont police said today that the severed torso of a female was found over the weekend on a Fremont levee.

The victim hasn't been identified.

The incident began about 8:15 p.m. Sunday when people fishing near a levee off Marshlands Road found human remains, police said.

The arms, legs and head of the body were missing and "appear to have been severed from the torso," police said.

Authorities did not release additional information, including how the victim may have died.

MAN IN UBER CAR SOUGHT IN SAN JOSE AIRPORT ASSAULT: San Jose police say a man in a with an Uber sticker attacked a citizen who complained about his driving at Mineta San Jose International Airport.

The incident happened about 9:50 a.m. Thursday when the citizen saw a man speeding in a white sedan, possibly a white Ford Fusion said San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia.

The citizen followed the car as the driver parked in the airport's car-rental facility and confronted him about "driving fast through the airport," Garcia said.

"The victim began taking photos of the suspect and his vehicle," Garcia said."The victim observed an Uber sticker on the car window. The suspect exited his car, approached the victim, grabbed his shirt, yelled at him and pushed him. The suspect’s fare arrived, got in the suspect's car, and the suspect drove away with the fare."

SEBASTOPOL ANIMAL CRUELTY CASE PROBED: 

Sonoma County sheriff's investigators are trying to find the person who deliberately poisoned several animals with oleander-laced cookies, killing a horse and a dog.

A woman called the sheriff's office on Feb. 12, saying two of her horses and her dog had been poisoned, said sheriff's Sgt. Cecile Focha. The canine and one of the horses died.

Veterinarians determined that the animals died of "oleander toxicity," most likely by eating homemade cookies that contained oleander, which is highly poisonous to animals, Focha said. Someone had deliberately placed the cookies on the woman's property along Kennedy Road near Sebastopol, Focha said.

A person of interest has been identified, Focha said. A deputy assigned to the sheriff's rural crime task force is investigating.

"We appreciate the concern for our animals’ welfare and we are sorry for the loss suffered by the owner," Focha said.
