SFPD looking for suspect who brutally stomped on man

SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - KTVU has learned a felon on probation for robbery, has been identified as the suspect in the brutal assault and robbery of a man in downtown San Francisco. Police need the public's help finding the suspect.

The violent attack was caught on cell phone video.

It happened yesterday afternoon at Hallidie Plaza, near the Powell Street Bart Station.

Police had asked for help in identifying the suspect and now tell KTVU they are looking for 25 year old Melton Kelly.

Police say Kelly was seen on cell phone video repeatedly punching the victim and savagely stomping on his head, before taking money and other items from his pockets.

The victim remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Kelly’s wanted for attempted murder and robbery.
