Alameda firefighters are at the scene of a pier collapse on a portion of the Brooklyn Basin on Oakland Estuary.

Initial reports of the incident came in 4:17 p.m., according to Oakland Fire Department.

An Alameda fire boat has been assisting Oakland Fire Department near Fifth Avenue and Embarcadero since around 5 p.m. Friday evening, according to an Oakland Fire Department dispatcher. As many as 200 feet of the pier have dropped into the water they said.

Four shipping containers are in the water. At least two could be seen by Skyfox from overhead. The containers did not contain any hazardous materials, according to city officials.

The City of Oakland said no injuries have been reported and that that area of the pier was already damaged and set to be demolished at a future date.

California Department of Fish and Wildlife is also on the scene.
