That Kid's Got Game: All-star home run trot goes viral

Everyone loves an exciting touchdown celebration. But how about a home run dance?

Not only does Billy drive the ball and leg out a homer, but he displays some all-star dance moves after receiving a series of high-fives from spectators as he rounded third base. And for the show he put on the baseball field on April 28, Billy is this week’s talent on That Kid’s Got Game

Billy, who has Down syndrome, is in his second season playing in “League of YES,” a Long Island, New York-based organization that’s designed to provide a safe setting for children and young adults to play in a non-competitive league. The group works “to establish and sustain baseball programs for people (of all ages) with disabilities,” according to their website.

Kristine Fitzpatrick, Executive Director at League of YES, said people joined in and got Billy fired up before encouraging him to show his dance moves.

“It was incredible,” she said. “Everyone cheered and Billy felt like he just won the championship.”
Fitzpatrick added that Billy’s family is blown away from the reaction the video created. Over the past few days it’s been circulating media outlets across the nation.
