Toddler dies after being left in hot car in Moraga

A toddler died Tuesday after she was left in a car for several hours.

Moraga police identified the girl as 18 -month-old Lily Aracic of Oakland. 

Moraga Police received an emergency call at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday.  The dispatcher reported there was a person screaming and crying in the background.

When police arrived to the location on Hardie Drive, Lily was not breathing. An officer and firefighters began performing life saving measures and transported the child to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek where she was pronounced dead.

According to police, Lily was accidentally left in the vehicle for several hours by a family member.  Police say the family member was not in her normal routine and may have forgotten Lily was in the car. Police say the outside temperature was approximately 80 degrees. 

The exact cause of death is pending determination by the Contra Costa County Coroner's office.
