United States Coast Guard crews are searching a possible shipwreck off the coast of Pacifica after discovering debris on a beach Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

Pieces of the boat, shoes and clothing were recovered on the beach halfway between Pacifica Pier and Point Mori. Around 5:00 p.m., the Pacific Southwest division of the Coast Guard tweeted a photo of a piece of the wooden boat that has the word “Rio” on it, along with a description of the situation.

Officials said they have not received any distress calls in that area and it is unclear if the boat got loose or if there’s people in the water that need help.

While searching for the owners of the boat, Coast Guard officials are hoping someone recognizes the photo and can point them in the right direction.
