Wine Country Fires: Ways to help

There are several ways to help people impacted by the devastating fires in wine country.

The North Bay Fire Relief Fund

"Redwood Credit Union (RCU), in partnership with RCU Community Fund, The Press Democrat, and Senator Mike McGuire, is now accepting financial donations to aid relief efforts and assist victims of the 2017 North Bay fires. 100% of your donations will go directly to support those affected by the fires.

Because the devastating fires affected numerous counties, you will have the opportunity to donate to the county of your choosing, including Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, and Lake County. You may also choose to donate to all counties (your funds will be distributed equally among all four counties)."

Catholic charities, Goodwill, and the Salvation Army are also accepting cash donations that will pay for food, shelter and medical care for fire victims forced to evacuate.

For volunteer information contact the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership.  As of Tuesday morning, volunteers were not being requested.

A Gofundme for Safari West families impacted by the fires has been started

Airbnb has activated its disaster response program.
