New ‘TubiFone’ hotline gives callers movie recommendations based on emotions

Not sure what to watch tonight? Tubi can help.

As part of its global "Find Any Feeling For Free" campaign, the free streaming service has launched TubiFone, a hotline for U.S.-based Tubi viewers that recommends movies based on the feeling callers want to experience.

Big picture view:

In the mood for some vengeance? TubiFone has suggestions for that. Want to feel some good-old fashioned yearning? TubiFone’s got that covered, too. Feeling like something adventurous, or sentimental? TubiFone stands ready to serve.

The list of emotions goes on – though not as far as Tubi’s list of available titles, which is the largest free content library in streaming, showcasing everything from contemporary hits to giants of classic cinema.

Dig deeper:

The hotline, which begins taking calls on September 10, 2026, is, per a press release, a "refreshingly human answer to the perennial question, ‘What should I watch?’"

But movie-lovers can judge that for themselves. TubiFone can be reached at 1-833-605-TUBI.

In the meantime, here are some recommendations of our own.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)

Tobe Hooper’s hugely influential horror classic introduced the world to Leatherface and set a new standard for goriness in cinema. The kind of movie you don’t want to watch alone (or on a full stomach). Plus: Cannibals!

Rated R. 83 minutes. Dir: Tobe Hooper. Featuring: Marilyn Burns, Teri McMinn, Gunnar Hansen, Allen Danziger, Paul A. Partain.

Beyond the Lights (2014)

This achingly beautiful coming-of-age romance about a pop star named Noni (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is an ode to setting boundaries and not letting anyone control you — even the people who raised you. Themes of creative identity, mental health, sexism in the music industry, romantic partnership and family pressure take center stage in this hidden gem of a movie from "Love & Basketball" director Gina Prince-Bythewood.

Rated PG-13. 116 minutes. Dir: Gina Prince-Bythewood. Also featuring Minnie Driver and Danny Glover.

The NeverEnding Story (1984)

It’s a feeling all book-lovers know well: You get so wrapped up in a story that you lose all track of time, and before you know it you’re hiding in the attic of your elementary school, reading about a hero named Atreyu (Noah Hathaway) who just really wants to get his horse Artax through the swamp, you know? And then all of a sudden you’re somehow part of the story and you need to help save Fantasia from the clutches of The Nothing. We’ve all been there!

Rated PG. 94 minutes. Dir: Wolfgang Petersen. Also featuring Barret Oliver, Tami Stronach, Moses Gunn, Gerald McRaney, Alan Oppenheimer.
