Rep. Lateefah Simon honors mentor, the late Gloria Steinem, on House floor

Oakland Congresswoman Lateefah Simon says feminist icon Gloria Steinem became her mentor when Simon was 19. Simon shared the above video footage of her honoring Steinem Thursday in the House. Former California Senator Barbara Boxer also credited Steinem's Ms. magazine for encouraging her to stay in politics. Steinem's death was announced by family on social media. Steinem was 92 years old.
