Homicide investigation in Fremont

Police in Fremont are investigating a homicide after a shooting Friday afternoon. One man was killed.Police said fleeing subjects were taken into custody without incident, though they did not say how many people there were. 

Fremont police on Monday revealed more details about a fatal shooting at an apartment in the middle of the day: Two armed teens allegedly broke into a home and one of them ended up killed during a struggle with a person who lived there.

Fremont police activity

Fremont police are investigating in the area of San Pedro Drive, between Nicolet Avenue and Frobisher Drive. 

Police said in a news release that the teens, armed with guns, allegedly broke into an apartment on Friday about 12:15 p.m. on San Pedro Drive. 

The teens then allegedly assaulted the occupants of the apartment, police said. 

There was a struggle, and one of the occupants grabbed the teen's gun and fired it, hitting the teen, police said.

The teen was taken to the hospital but ended up dying, police said. 

The second teen ran away but was later found and booked at the Juvenile Justice Center on suspicion of residential burglary and felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm. 

The two occupants of the apartment sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said. 

Fremont's 3rd homicide

What we don't know:

It wasn't immediately clear if the teens knew the apartment occupants. 

The investigation remains active. This is Fremont’s third homicide in 2026.
