FLX Account Executive

KTVU FOX 2 is seeking a Digital Account Executive who is experienced in business development and has established contacts to make an immediate impact in its rapidly growing digital business. The ideal candidate will be based out of Sacramento, CA. Be part of a winning team with a diverse culture that believes in supporting, mentoring, and training our staff. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Candidate will have responsibility of developing and maintain a robust sales pipeline of qualified clients for the Fox Local Extension (FLX) OTT platform.
  • Source new sales opportunities through a combination of identifying and researching potential accounts and soliciting new business via outbound communication as well as inbound lead follow-up.
  • Maintain a consistent presence out in the field building relationships and presenting, live or via Zoom, the benefits of the FLX platform.
  • Quickly become a product expert in order to participate in brainstorming, staff meetings, client meetings, researching and assisting in proposal development and campaign reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Research Director to develop and maintain custom presentations that further highlight the benefits and utility of FLX. • Maintain expert knowledge of competitive OTT platforms and a clear understanding of the characteristics that give FLX a competitive advantage.
  • Stewart client campaigns and work on a variety of weekly and monthly reports to develop impactful post campaign recaps and provide recommendations to further optimize client campaigns.
  • Work closely with the Digital Sales Manager on every RFP and presentation for consistency in creating impactful campaigns that help our clients achieve the marketing objectives.
  • Maintain a positive and effective working relationship with Ad-Ops, creative services, and finance departments. • Other duties assigned as deemed necessary and appropriate.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with daily high volume sales activity in a B2B sales environment.
  • A sales hunter mentality with the ability to consult with clients and understand how your products can serve as the solution to help them meet their objectives.
  • You have managed a book of business and understand how to organize/plan your day to meet deadlines in a fast pace environment.
  • You thrive in a metrics and results driven sales culture and have a track record to prove it.
  • You have experience in building rapport, providing technical information and explanations, and preparing presentations.
  • Has established OTT/Digital relationships and is able to make an immediate impact on a sales team.
  • Digital Video Advertising and/or Digital Agency/Digital Publisher experience preferred.
  • Strong written/oral communications, presentation and account management skills are also required.

Account Executive

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and grow existing client list by utilizing our market leading FOX stations, digital properties, and industry leading OTT platform to create impactful marketing campaigns for advertising partners.
  • Develop a consistent stream of new business and manage the entire sales cycle in order to achieve monthly revenue targets.
  • Gain key insight on client goals and objectives in order to make presentation and recommendations to successfully achieve them with all of our offerings.
  • Responsible for selling sponsorships that may include promotions initiated by sales persons.
  • Ability to create impactful multi-platform advertising campaigns that include KTVU/KTVU+, KTVU’s digital offerings, and OTT.

Digital Sales Coordinator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Digital Sales Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting campaign setup, management and reporting for the sales team.

Responsibilities to include general administrative work, support of the digital sales team and leadership, coordination with ad operations to traffic and monitor delivery, campaign tracking and reporting, and support with client presentations.C

Other Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in meetings, take notes and disseminate information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Experience with PowerPoint a must and Excel, Slack, Media Encoder and Photo Shop
  • Works collaboratively with other team members, agency partners, and outside vendors.
  • Tracks and reports on media asset performance and performs related administrative activities.
  • Maintains a sustainable digital e-records management system.

Assignment Editor

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize and manage news crew
  • Listen to scanners and respond as needed
  • Make decisions on what stories to cover and assign/dispatch crews
  • Assign and dispatch crews for news vehicles including ENG/CNG vehicles
  • Attend and participate in editorial meetings. Provide suggestions for stories.

Broadcast Engineering Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of on-air product, equipment, and systems in the studio, at the transmitter, and at all remote sites by performing the following duties:
  • Oversees preventative and corrective maintenance for all TV systems and equipment.
  • Sets Master Control (MCR) and engineering procedures and policies with the approval of VP of Engineering.
  • Oversees maintenance of ancillary equipment and operations, including station and transmitter site generators and building systems, as well as oversee the operations needs of closed captioning, emergency crawls, EAS tests and alerts, pop-ups and local or national cut-ins.
  • Liaison with other departments whose procedures affect our on-air product, including Traffic, Sales, Accounting, Creative Services, Production and News
  • Maintains daily Engineering, MCR logs, transmitter logs and quality control reports.
  • Oversees and order equipment parts required for proper maintenance and on-air operation.
  • Assists in keeping Engineers current in their maintenance and operational abilities.
  • Determines priorities for repair part purchasing.
  • Assists in obtaining proposals for new equipment, up to making recommendations for those purchases.
  • Assists in three-year capital plan and building plan.
  • Assists in FCC compliance.
  • Scheduling and Payroll
  • Backup for maintaining FCC license notebook.
  • Coordinates with other departments for proper maintenance of station equipment and scheduling.
  • Purchases expendables for station consumption.
  • Respond to emergencies whenever needed.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for any and all equipment issued by FOX
  • Understand, train, and perform the operation of station systems including iTX.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in broadcasting, electronics, computer science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Five years of progressive experience in broadcast technology, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the requirements of a 24/7/365 live news operation, including responding to after-hours calls.
  • Comprehensive understanding of broadcast television production workflows.
  • Strong strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in a union environment is strongly preferred.
  • SBE and IT certifications considered a plus.

Broadcast Engineer (per diem)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

KTVU is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to conduct repairs and preventative maintenance of broadcast equipment--both IT/server-based and video-based. Works under the direction of Engineering management to research, obtain, and implement equipment, test devices, and perform maintenance/operating procedures.

Repairs and maintains broadcast systems, including systems that are computer-based.
Shares information and knowledge of this specialty area with other staff members, by adhering to the documentation requirements at KTVU, which include creating rack elevation views, block diagrams and detailed schematic and by training co-workers on new systems that you design and/or install. Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and at least four years related experience in TV station maintenance, including digital; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Particular emphasis will be placed on experience with software applications, operating systems and general-purpose troubleshooting in a network environment. Experience with layers 1, 2 and 3 network switches is considered a plus. SBE certifications desirable. Membership in IBEW union required. A+ and other computer based certifications are highly desirable. Must have the ability to work with end-users of software-based systems in order to solve issues in large network-based systems is an important skill that is required. The ability to understand network-based communications links between corporate locations in other cities and the systems at KTVU will be required.

News Producer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Producer is required to select content, write and copy edit stories, assemble stories into a rundown, book guests, and create graphics and visuals to complement the presentation of material for the on-air broadcast and digital platforms. The producer must be able to write news copy clearly, in broadcast style, for on-air, online, and other digital platforms. Must be able to assemble news material in a logical and organized fashion and present finished stories in a professional and engaging manner for viewers/readers to be able to comprehend the latest local, national and international news. Strong writing and producing skills are essential. Ability to contribute ideas on a daily basis and to recognize what types of stories would make for interesting and compelling television and online content. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced quickly changing environment and react in live situations to cover breaking news, etc. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with peers and supervisors and to develop contacts outside the building to aid in newsgathering. The producer must be enterprising and self-motivated and be able to work independently to develop newscast or assigned production. Requires a thorough understanding of all journalistic standards and broadcast production techniques used to create visual and compelling on-air and online content. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma is required; 4-year College degree is preferred. Candidate should have some experience with fast-paced television productions. Ignite, Inews, AutoCue experience or other newscast automation is required. A strong technical understanding of new technology is also required. News Reporter

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Must be a strong writer and storyteller with the ability to convey information to viewers in a conversational manner. Must be knowledgeable about current events and be able to collaborate with newsroom on editorial direction and presentation. Strong candidates will be able to develop sources, pitch and execute enterprise stories that can lead a newscast. Must be able to report on breaking news and other developing stories with little assistance from production crews. Must be able to handle high stress environment while staying calm on air and behind the scenes. Must be able to discuss current events unscripted during the course of a live broadcast. News Writer

As a Newscast Writer, you will play a pivotal role in crafting compelling news stories. News Photographer (Per diem) (4)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

KTVU is seeking a News ENG Photographer to work with a team of journalists covering stories in the Bay Area. Photographer will work with reporters to craft daily stories, execute live shots, provide pictures and video to digital teams and provide information to the assignment desk and producers. Must be experienced in shooting local news, operating ENG vehicles, LiveU backpacks or similar devices, and non-linear editing equipment. Must also have a professional level of skill in lighting and audio operations in the field. Must be able to work under deadline in high-pressure situations, including breaking news. Assignments may include out of market and overnight travel. Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Minimum of three years of professional News Camera experience is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must have an excellent driving record. A professional level of skill in operation of ENG live trucks, ENG field cameras and field editing systems, including non-linear and associated photographic equipment is required.

Broadcast Technician

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operating in Master Control, the Technical Operations Center, and Ingest. Master Control automation experience a must with an emphasis on switching live sports.

Ensuring compliance with FCC regulations related to closed captioning, EAS, transmitters, text-to-speech, and the CALM Act. Live news experience is also a must to include tuning in live shots via microwave, satellite, and bonded cellular. Other duties include commercial and program ingest and segmentation as well as quality control of on-air signal. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts that may include nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Other duties as deemed appropriate and necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The ability to work under tight timelines and high stress while maintaining an exceptional on-air product. Basic technical troubleshooting skills and the ability to properly communicate issues to the Maintenance Engineers and supervisors. Computer hardware, software, and networking experience and the ability to quickly learn new applications and workflows. Must work well with others in and out of the Engineering department and be able to communicate clearly in writing as well as in person.
Two years of college or technical school and two years of related experience preferred.

KTVU Channel 2 and KTVU Plus offer an unpaid college internship program three times a year: Spring, Summer and Fall.

Students are provided a chance to experience the working environment of television broadcasting including news/sports, digital/social media news production and promotion, and community affairs.Internship Requirements:College students must meet these requirements to qualify for a KTVU/KTVU Plus internship:

  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited four year college.
  • Be a junior, senior or graduate student in a graduate program.
  • Provide a letter on school letterhead, prior to the start of the internship, from an advisor or professor stating that the student is enrolled in school during the current semester/quarter and will be receiving course credit.
