On this first day of fall, you have a chance to enjoy the great outdoors for free.

Saturday is National Public Lands Day.

Admission fees are waived at national parks, monuments and forests.

Here in the Bay Area, attractions include Muir Woods and the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park at Fisherman's Wharf.

This is the 25th year of public lands day. It’s held on the fourth Saturday in September.

The National Park Service says it celebrates the connection between people and the green space in their community.
