Major car crash on Highway 4 injures 14 in Antioch

All lanes on westbound state Highway 4 in Antioch just east of the Lone Tree Way on ramp have reopened this evening after a multi-vehicle collision, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP issued a Sig-alert just after 6:33 p.m. shutting down all the lanes while emergency crews worked to clear the area.

The incident occurred just after 6:15 p.m. and 14 people were reported to have suffered injuries, according to the CHP.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District reported on Twitter that five ambulances and four helicopters had been requested as a result of the incident.

Drivers are encouraged to proceed with caution, as traffic is still slow in the area.
