Oakland police searching for suspect who shot at officer

Oakland police blocked off roadways in the San Antonio neighborhood Friday morning while they search for a wanted suspect who police say fired at an officer. 

The officer was not hit and police recovered a gun at the scene, but the suspect fled on foot. 

The incident began around 3:00 a.m. in the 2300 block of East 17th Street. Surrounding streets were closed off for neighborhood safety. 

Bear Cat, one of Oakland police's armored vehicles was brought in as well as a police drone to conduct surveillance from above.

Police called off the search just before 8:00 a.m. after clearing the area. they did not locate a suspect but said the area was safe for citizens.
