SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. (KTVU) – Sonoma County Sheriff's Officials are investigating the death of a person found inside a Penngrove home Thursday morning.

Lt. Carlos Basurto declined to call the case a homicide investigation, but did classify the death as "suspicious."

Basurto said the report came in just before noon from a person who discovered a body inside a home on the 900 block of Rose Avenue. It's unclear if there was anyone else inside the house.

Officials from various divisions in the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department were called to the house Thursday afternoon. An officer was also spotted combing the property with a K-9.

Neighbors said a family has long owned the property and rents out the pastures, chicken coops and storage units to various people.

According to one neighbor, there was no indication of any wrongdoing that she saw before Thursday's incident.

A spokeswoman for the sheriff's office could not release any more information on the case.
