State Superintendent of Schools asked to leave school district meeting
Tony Thurmond, California's state superintendent of schools, was asked to leave a heated school district meeting in Chino on Tuesday. This was after he expressed opposition to a policy that requires administrators to inform parents if their child identifies as transgender. Thurmond says the policy could carry consequences. 40% of the students who identify as LGBTQ+ in California have considered suicide, Thurmond says.
