Airline policy change for refunds, fee transparency

The U.S. Department of Transportation recently announced a new rule, requiring airlines to make refunds easier and fees more transparent. It requires airlines to offer cash refunds within seven business days for significantly delayed or canceled flights, along with vouchers or travel credits. Officials say the new rule will be phased in over the next two years, and will save flyers more than $500 million a year.
