Oakland Police Department needs a baseline of 877 sworn officers

A study commissioned by Oakland's City Council in 2023 was released this week, stating that the police department needs a baseline of 877 sworn officers in order to meet the needs of the city. The Oakland police chief and police officers association, however, say that number is too low.
