Alcatraz to remain open despite government shutdown, thanks to nonprofit and private support

Alcatraz will remain open for tours during the government shutdown. The Golden Gate National Park Conservancy and Alcatraz City Tours will donate and pay for furloughed National Park employees to keep tours on the island going.
